Last night had one of the better dinners on my journey so far at the albergue that we were staying. While everyone ate lasagna and rotisserie chicken (I am told is a delightful combination) the sweet owner Francesca made me a personalized vegetable pasta. After downing three plates, I learned that she felt so bad for me that she added a can of tuna to the pasta, (couldn’t tell from all the vegetables and sauces) so I get enough protein. Because other people were telling her that I’ve been hungry without protein for a week. So there we go Eva, I have cheated on the Camino and had tuna.
This morning I left at 6:45 am since there was a very big climb for the day. Below are the daily sunrise photos for Amy.
I passed the below monument on the Camino at top of hard climb today.
Today we hiked 26km and arrived to Atapuerca. This is our last stop before Burgos which is the end of stage 1 of the Camino which signifies one’s life and the struggles through it. The first phase up to Burgos is the toughest on your body and challenges you immensely. I sure got my fair share of it and my feet’s tell the story for sure. This photo is from last night.

So far it has been an incredible growth journey for me. I have pushed myself beyond the preconceived limits I had about myself. For example, in 2022, on the North Pole trip I came so close to quitting not realizing that I had more in me than I believed. Again on this journey, on day 6 (at my worst moment) I was ready to give up due to my feet. Thanks to my Camino friends (who now became dear friends) I changed my mind and continued. I am proud of not giving up, pushing myself outside of my comfort zones not just physically but also emotionally. On the Camino I also started to appreciate how simple things could be if you chose. Here I mostly think about foot, food, my family and bed as my daily priorities.
Miss all my girls but talk to them everyday (Amy 6 times minimum).
Burgos here I come!!!
Photos from the day:
Kms today: 26 kms
Kms total: 280 kms

Good job Jersey, keep up your good spirit though it will be tough at times. We are rooting for you every day.
When you say you miss your girls, I assume you also mean this one….
The skies look beautiful! I hope your feet heal soon.
